On September 3, 2025, China held a grand military parade in Tiananmen Square, the capital, to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. The parade aimed to highlight the historical significance of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression as the main battlefield in the East of the World Anti-Fascist War and its significant contribution to the victory. It also highlighted the pivotal role of the Communist Party of China in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and China’s unwavering responsibility to resolutely defend the victory of the Second World War, uphold international fairness and justice, and actively promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.

The images showed magnificent columns of troops and advanced weapons and equipment slowly passing through Tiananmen Square, demonstrating the formidable strength of the Chinese military and the prosperity of the nation. All equipment on display was domestically produced, active combat equipment. In addition to showcasing new-generation conventional weaponry, the parade also featured displays of new combat capabilities, such as unmanned intelligent warfare, underwater warfare, cyber-enabled attack and defense, and hypersonic warfare. This fully demonstrated our military’s formidable ability to adapt to technological advancements and evolving warfare patterns, and to win future wars.
The parade featured 45 formations (columns), which proceeded in two stages: a parade and a march-past. The entire procession lasted approximately 70 minutes. During the march-past, the formations passed through Tiananmen Square in the order of the Air Flag Guard, the Foot Guard, the Battle Flag Guard, the Equipment Guard, and the Air Guard.
The participants were energetic and marched with resounding steps, showcasing the fine character of Chinese servicemen. The Air Flag Guard, with its neat formation and superb technique, opened the march-past. The marching formation, with its meticulous military bearing and high morale, showcased the iron-blooded spirit of the Chinese military. The battle flag formation, holding high the honorary battle flags of each unit, demonstrated the historical heritage and fighting spirit of the Chinese military.
The equipment formation displayed a variety of advanced weapons and equipment, showcasing the tremendous achievements of the Chinese military in modernization. From land combat equipment to naval combat equipment, from air combat equipment to information warfare equipment, each piece of equipment represents the highest level of excellence in its respective field. The aerial formation brought the parade to a successful conclusion with a stunning flight display. Various advanced fighter jets, performing challenging maneuvers and precise flight, showcased the superb skills and formidable capabilities of the Chinese Air Force.
